We had such a lovely tasting experience at @moyhallwines the other week ~ definitely one to check out if you're planning a trip to Martinborough!

Their tasting room is the first thing you see before opening out into a beautiful and recently renovated restaurant overlooking their vines. Producing single vineyard wines, we chose to taste 4 and enjoyed every sip 🥰 To top it off, the tasting flight arrived on a gorgeous stave.

A bonus was that the restaurant was also family friendly (very handy for us) as well as dog friendly if you want to bring your fur-baby along, too!

This is a classic blend known as a "white Bordeaux blend" as it originated from the southern areas of the region. The French believe that Sauvignon Blanc is far too acidic to drink on its own so blend it with the richer, more full-bodied Semillon to bring balance and a fuller body to the wine.

The typical characteristics you can expect from a glass of sav-sem are grapefruit, lemon curd, chamomile and lemongrass. It usually has high acidity but with a medium to full-body.

Often these wines spend a little bit of time in oak and will pair perfectly with cream and tarragon sauces ~ think coque-au-vin.

Happy Wine Wednesday Friends – hopefully you’ve got your hands on something delicious to sip on as a little mid-week treat! 🍷

We certainly have - 2022 Chardonnay from @groves_wine @terroir.nz 🤤

This is a single vineyard chardonnay which is grown & harvested organically here in Martinborough. It is HAND PICKED (!!) and then whole bunch pressed before it is fermented in French oak and stainless steel. It undergoes partial malolactic fermentation bringing a creamy, buttery-ness and elegance to the wine, as well as accentuating those stone fruit flavours. Ageing for 6 months on lees prior to bottling also brings forward those bready or biscuity flavours and creates this depth that is simply delicious.

As Sam says, there are only 483 bottles of this produced – 483!! It is always such a privilege to enjoy wines where there is absolutely no doubt at all that pure love and passion have gone into creating them <3 Thank you Simon and Amanda!! 🙏

Also part of the VTT clan is our son, Austin, our golden retriever, Mango (who we know lots of you met when we had the wine shop) & Nacho (our tabby cat, sadly not featured)! We're back and are so excited to introduce you to the newest member of Vine to Table ~ our gorgeous son, Austin! 🍷

Our little man was born at home on 26 April as planned & everything went perfectly. Mum & baby were both great & we have spent the last month soaking up each moment together as a family. We are both absolutely loving parenthood so far & are so excited for all the adventures that are yet to come.

Austin is only a month old but has already visited two Waipara wineries ~ truly taking in his Dad's footsteps 😉

It has actually also been a pretty busy month for us here at Vine to Table as well, with a number of private tasting events at a number of venues down here in Christchurch. Since closing the doors to the shop at Christmas, we have pivoted Vine to Table to focus on private tasting events, wine education & private consulting & we are reeeeally excited to share more with you soon!!

Now that we've taken this time off, we will be sharing a little reintroduction video tomorrow to let you know what's been going on & what you can expect from us now we are back in business post-bub! A little update from us...

It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing the closing of the shopfront/ bar portion of Vine to Table. Unfortunately we have made the decision that the best way forward for our (growing) family is for us to focus our energy & efforts on our online wine services, private tastings and continue to create wine education events that are accessible and fun for all.

We want to stress that while you can no longer visit us in person, Vine to Table is still very much alive and here to meet all of your wine needs!

We are so thankful for all of the support and love we have received over the last 6 months in business and hope that despite closing down the physical premise, you will continue to find value and joy in what our business has to offer.

In happier news, we are excited to share that we will be dedicating much more time and energy into curating our bespoke wine subscription packages, educational wine courses (including virtual tastings) and continuing to host private wine tasting events. We will also shortly be releasing our own 'wine portfolio,' as such, whereby you will be able to browse our selection of high quality, fine wines of the world and place bespoke orders with us, too. We have worked with guests looking for particular bottles or varietals a number of times befor and take great pleasure in assisting you with your bespoke wine needs.

Whilst we are sad to be closing the doors to our physical premise, we are confident that 2023 will still be a wonderful year of wine education & consumption and can't wait to transition into this new season of business.
