Our
Story
For those of you new here, Vine to Table is a little wine business created by us - Sam (the guy) and AJ (the gal) North. We’re a husband-and-wife team and parents to two little loves (and a few fur-babies), currently living in Martinborough, New Zealand… although that hasn’t always been the case.

Many of you may know us from our Christchurch days, when we opened the original version of Vine to Table - a bespoke wine shop in the heart of the city, created to bring new and exciting wines into an ever-evolving space. It was a gorgeous little spot that was sadly short-lived, after we found out we were expecting little love #1 just a couple of weeks after opening.

Since closing the shop (and later our tours), Vine to Table has largely laid dormant - aside from a few fun events sprinkled in along the way, and Sam beginning (and completing!) his WSET Diploma.
​
Sam’s background has always been in managing fine-dining restaurants. Shortly after we met, he decided to specialise in wine and step away from hospitality more generally. He completed his WSET Levels 2 and 3, before beginning his WSET Diploma in October 2023. Sam is the wine expertise and the face of Vine to Table - the person who will guide you through tastings and tours, and work with you to curate cellars, bespoke wine lists, and all things wine-related.

AJ, on the other hand, comes at wine from a different angle. Having never worked in hospitality, she brings the admin, organisation, and social media to life behind the scenes. If you enquire about working with us, it’s likely she’ll be the one you’re chatting with.

Vine to Table is a business we’re incredibly excited to be reinvigorating. It encompasses everything we believe wine to be — one of the simplest, most joyful ways to connect: with each other, with seasons, with places, with stories, and with ourselves. Life isn’t always easy, and having something so simple and delightful to return to feels quite beautiful.
